The 3/50 Project grows legs

3-50-project-logo_500px2Well, can’t say you aren’t doing your part to spread the news.

Thanks to a whole lot of folks who believe in independent businesses and local communities, The 3/50 Project went into high gear yesterday, starting with the Gifts and Dec e-newsletter that so graciously included a piece about us (without me asking, bless their hearts). Next, I learned that Home Accents Today blogger, Mike Landfair, ran a piece too.

Suddenly, things lit up. Thanks to a plethora of bloggers, Twitter users, and a very steady stream of new supporters landing in my inbox, The 3/50 Project has grown legs and is running like a marathon pro.

Which explains why my calendar has officially been rescheduled into, oh, say June…? (Just kidding. Heard a couple of clients gasp over that last statement.)

In the past day or two-—before the hoopla began-—I added a couple more elements to the mix. The more of these you partake in, the more The 3/50 Project name gets out there:

Facebook
We now have a page, titled (appropriately) “The 3/50 Project.” Search for it using the handy dandy little box in the top right corner of your Facebook page, then (please) click on the “Become a fan” link.

LinkedIn
There’s now a LinkedIn Group flying under the banner of “The 3/50 Project.”

Twitter
You know it. Got our own hashtag for your tweeting pleasure (#350proj). Also created a Twitter account under the Project’s name (to protect the brand) but have asked that interested followers subscribe to @cindabaxter instead. Heaven knows I don’t need two Twitter accounts.

Likaholix
Yup, we’re listed there too. If you’re not familiar with the new service, it’s basically a big room where people vote on things they like. If you’re already signed up, jump in, search for “The 3/50 Project,” and give us a thumbs up. If you aren’t signed up but want to be, I have ten free invites to share (it’s invitation only right now). Ask for one in the comments below and ye shall receive.

This week, I’m pushing beyond trade media into mainstream (think: consumer media), so if anyone has a contact for major publications or-—better yet-—one of the three major networks, please drop me a line. The most important audience to reach is the consumer, since they hold all the cards…

…and the wallets.

The full blown site will be up soon; this grew so fast that I’m clearing the calendar to get it up and running as soon as possible.

Thanks, everyone!

P.S. I love that so many of you are posting The 3/50 Project graphics on your blogs and websites; please don’t download and use the one from the site’s home page since the image is sliced to accommodate embedded link graphics. Instead, drop me a line (via the email link on the left) and I’ll send  you a copy that’s in tact, complete with the copyright information at the bottom. Thanks!

Editor’s Note:
Graphics for use on blogs and websites are done, and available through The 3/50 Project website. Click on the Resources tab and you’re there.

Please send along a copy of the 3/50 Project logo for my blog and Facebook page. While you’re at it, I’d also like an invite to the Likaholix site. Thanks!

Cinda – for contact info for those in our community that are NOT LinkedIn, Twitter, FB, where should we send them to sign up? I have a list a mile long and don’t know where to send them.
Thanks, thanks, thanks.

No problems; have them go to the website: the350project.org where they can register and download the free flyer. Be sure to let them know that all registrants will be listed on the full site as soon as it’s up, as well as receive a free member icon for use on their websites (or Facebook pages, for those who have one). Thanks for spreading the word!

Cinda –
Jeez, this has all been going on and I missed the fun? Send those banners my way. :) I have several blogs and lots of people who blog that would love to have a banner to support this. Or direct me to the banners, if you can? I notice the flyer is the main thing that I can download and print, but I’d like to have cute little banners for websites and blogs.

Thank you.

@Kayla:
Only the official website for The 3/50 Project gets to use the banner (thanks to a not-so-cool person who “borrowed” ours, used it on his blog, then presented himself as an official spokesman…amazing, since I’d never even heard of the guy).

Instead, we have snazzy member badges, perfect for use on blogs, websites, etc. Thanks for helping to spread the word!
