If you’ve been in an audience for one of my sessions about The 3/50 Project, you know about my personal goal—to see the “local, independent, brick and mortar” message on one of a national morning program. Unless you’ve been completely asleep the past two weeks, you know I’m also cheering the AmEx OPEN initiative, Small Business Saturday, focused on the same topic, targeting this Saturday.

On March 11, 2009, I wrote a blog post asking consumers to return to the locally owned, independent brick and mortar merchants they loved, then commit $50 of their monthly budgets to businesses just like them. I called this crazy little idea The 3/50 Project.

A few days later, I put that message on a flyer, then stuck it on the blog.

The post (and flyer) went viral…then international…then became a website...then a Facebook page…then the rallying cry for thousands of small business owners who wanted more.  [click here to continue…]

Back into the suitcase, time to start spreading that small business goodness around the Great Plains states as we sneak up on the holiday shopping season. If you don’t have your tickets yet, well…what’s up with that??? Get on the ball, give ‘em a call, and say “hi” when you see me at the front of the room.
