The 3/50 Project

If you missed it, here you go. My favorite line actually came from the teaser, introducing The 3/50 Project just before the commercials preceding our segment:

They just might have the formula that could save some local businesses that might not otherwise survive the recession.

Couldn’t have said it better if I tried.

For those of you who were still slumbering in the wee small hours on the west coast, here’s a recording of yesterday’s segment on The Small Business Advocate radio program, hosted by the ever wonderful Jim Blasingame. This is the second appearance for The 3/50 Project on the show, which is in itself an honor.

.

Thanks for being such a strong supporter of independent businesses, Jim. You’re an inspiration to us all.

microphoneThe past week’s been a whirlwind for The 3/50 Project, to say the least. Showing up on the pages of The Wall Street Journal (on our three month anniversary, no less), followed by the Chicago Tribune certainly does make for a very pleasant holiday weekend.

And this week’s starting off with a bang. Actually, a double bang. [click here to continue…]

The 3/50 Project in the Chicago Tribune

by Cinda Baxter on July 3, 2009

in Media, The 3/50 Project

chicago_tribYet another terrific article under the banner of a major newspaper-—thanks to both the Chicago Tribune and those amazing folks in Hinsdale, Illinois who have been knocking the ball out of the park since early on. Their Chamber of Commerce was among the first to officially endorse The 3/50 Project; as a result, Hinsdale businesses have come together to build a stronger, more active consumer environment.

FYI: The numbers being quoted in the piece are out of date by a few weeks. Here are the stats, as of midnight, July 1, 2009:

7,100+ Supporters registered on The 3/50 Project website
11,100+ Fans on The 3/50 Project Facebook page (includes consumers!)
93,600+ Absolute Unique Visitors on the350project.net site

(Absolute Unique Visitors means each computer only counts once; we’re up to 116,000+ Total VIsitors, if you include repeat visits.)

Yet again, I bow in awe to all you enthusiastic souls who bring life to what we do. You’re tops in my book. Tops.

Licensing silliness

by Cinda Baxter on July 2, 2009

in Markets, Media, Rumors, The 3/50 Project

350_project_web_panelTo no one’s great surprise, yesterday’s Wall Street Journal article about The 3/50 Project has a few a lot a truckload of folks enthusiastically asking how they can spread the word. Well, since you asked….

On the Resources page of our website, you’ll find a plethora of items that can be downloaded for free, including that snazzy little flyer that started this whole lovefest. Am big on making it easy, you know.

Speaking of making things easy, there was apparently some silly misconception floating around the Dallas show about costly new licensing restrictions pertaining to items created for independents’ use…? Ahhh, not so, Grasshopper. As long as you don’t tinker with the content (think: stuff inside the four edges), odds are, you’re good to go.

Still not sure? Check out our very-not-complex-or-costly FAQ page for the skinny.

Maybe someone confused licensing (third parties wanting to charge independents for goods and services) with the much simpler copyright/TM stuff..? That’s my guess. Both are addressed on the FAQ page to avoid mix ups.

Happy to clear up the confusion. Even happier to be a part of something all of you have made such a success. Well done!

wsj_logoAt last…national media found us. Read the article here.

A big high five to all you folks out there spreading the word. Small businesses…large businesses…everyone who hands out a flyer or tells someone new about The 3/50 Project. You guys breathe life into our message, sharing your passion for keeping it real on Main Street. You, my friends, are rock stars.

Now, whaddaya say we go for the Today Show next? Fire up Twitter, folks. Let’s do this thing.

This may be one of the most well produced pieces I’ve seen yet about The 3/50 Project. Big high five to Fox 4 (WDAF TV) in Kansas City for the terrific coverage.

You folks in KC have had a lot of great media exposure this week, between KCUR Radio and Fox 4. Go grab a German Chocolate Concrete at Foo’s for me, then toast to your new found visibility.

Here’s to big things ahead!
