Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know about Small Business Saturday–the Saturday after Thanksgiving when we collectively pushed to remind consumers to shop with local, independent brick and mortar merchants. Well, the push was wildly successful; I’m still hearing buzz about it on the streets, even from those who don’t know I had a connection to the event.
The associated online social buzz was terrific for growing the SBS Facebook page, but…by promoting SBS so heavily on The 3/50 Project’s FB page, we (read: I) inspired a lot of FB users to fire up their friends about Small Business Saturday…but not about The 3/50 Project.
Oops.
My bad for not figuring that thing out until after the fact.
So. What’s this mean?
Well, first and foremost, it means I still adore Small Business Saturday. That hasn’t changed.
It also means I need to be more cognizant of how to grow the Project at the same time I do my part to grow SBS. And that’s where I need your help.
Whether you’re a business owner or consumer, please do me a favor? Help spread the word about The 3/50 Project using your personal (and business) status updates. Last year at this time, we had a massive push for new fans and basically knocked the ball out of the park. This year, I have it in my head we can work together to hit 80,000 before New Year’s.
Whadaya say? I know from experience that if you ask a small business owner to do something monumental, they typically try…and do. Let’s throw our combined weight behind this one and help spread the word far and wide, asking consumers “What three local businesses do YOU not want to lose?”

Amex did SBS and it was a huge success. I have been racking my brain trying to think of what the 3/50 Project could take on in December…. the twelve days of Christmas or something.
Got my Christmas bonus today… $50 Gift Card to Wally.
I shook my head and then the conversatin that came of it went something like this… You know that I am all about the 3/50 Project… I wonder if people are thinking past the fact that they are not only saving 3 stores, but that they are also saving their Police & Fire Departments! I am not sure about other communities but funding for those 2 departments in our town are not looking good.
hmmmmmmmmmm… when you think of Christmas, fire trucks & police cars…. do you think of RED? Anyway… I am just rambling. Something may come to mind.
