The 3/50 Project needs your help

in Finances, Technology, The 3/50 Project

Remember the blog post I whipped off nearly a year ago? You know the one…pick three, spend $50, ”Let’s call it The 3/50 Project.” Well, that little ditty has exploded into one heck of a huge international movement, complete with a full blown website, massive traffic, massive popularity…and a massive web hosting bill.

You know that $9.95/month hosting package you have that covers all the bases, and then some? Yeah, well, we’re way, way, waaaaaaay past that. With over 1.1 million page views in less than a year (and picking up speed), The 3/50 Project website’s bandwidth and RAM usage puts us deep into VPS hosting territory.

Don’t know what that means? I’ll tell you what it means. “Expensive.”

Which is why I need your help. We need your help.

To date, I’ve been funding this little small business lovefest out of my savings account. Even with the pittance we make on t-shirts, coffee mugs, and bumper stickers, more than 98% of our overhead is coming from me. Until now, I’ve been able to kinda sorta justify the fact (thinking of the Project as a start up these days). With the web hosting contract going orbital, however, I need a little help from my Project friends. A lot of them.

So now, we have a tip jar. That’s right—a virtual tip jar on our website. My hope is that you’ll look at all those free marketing materials on the Resources page…think about the importance of supporting locally owned, independent brick and mortars…consider our long term impact as we continue to promote our cause…then cruise over to our tip jar and make a contribution.

That $10 bill burning a hole in your pocket makes a whole lot of difference when combined with others of like mind. Please jump in and help us.

Thanks!
