Selling tickets to an event hosted by a Chamber of Commerce, it’s a pretty straight forward concept. Contact the Chamber office, then purchase.
Jacque Pregont (President, Atchison Area Chamber of Commerce in Atchison, Kansas) decided that wasn’t good enough. If the whole idea behind The 3/50 Project Great Plains Tour was to inspire consumers to reconnect with local, independent brick and mortars, well then…why wait?
So here’s the deal:
If you purchase through the Chamber, tickets are $20 for members; $25 for non-members.
If, however, you purchase from an independent brick and mortar merchants in town, you only pay $20, regardless of membership status.
The idea is to drive foot traffic into the local stores, restaurants, and any other type of Atchison business that fits the description…independents only, though. No big boxes or chains. They don’t even have to be members of the Chamber. It’s all about supporting the entire business community, not building walls between “us” and “them.”
This “everybody in the water” concept is simple, but one I haven’t seen a Project event sponsor initiate until now. Jacque’s going to get a list of the ticket merchants as soon as its complete; I’ll post it here and on The 3/50 Project Facebook event page ASAP.
Kudos to Jacque for putting the entire small business community first. That’s what makes a great leader, and a terrific town.
