An update on The 3/50 Project Supporters page

in The 3/50 Project

3-50-project-logo_500px2Thought I’d post an update about what’s going on at The 3/50 Project website:

• I’m working with my friend and IT guru, Gregg Marshall,  to find ways to better handle the enormous influx of registrations. In the meantime, I’ve posted notes in a couple of places on the site to let people know it’s taking a while to get business names on the Supporters page due to the extraordinary number of submissions, and to please be patient.

(Any help you can lend in repeating that message to the various audiences you connect with would be greatly appreciated.)

• While there are a number of truly lovely, wonderful people offering assistance, the demand for security and adherence to our privacy policy means I can’t just “hand the car keys” to someone without a lot of vetting…making sure we’re using compatible software programs…and dealing with the levels of experience necessary to coordinate efforts without slowing things down. It’s quite an interesting little ballet, and is one being actively attended to.

• More than 150 new listings went up yesterday, with yet more on the way today. That will get us caught up on registrations submitted through at least mid-day Saturday.

To those of you using the word “exploded” to describe the fireball growth of The 3/50 Project, well…you couldn’t be more accurate. I’ve read about viral campaigns, but never truly appreciated what that meant from the inside looking out.

I have to keep reminding myself it’s only been ten days since the full site went live. In that frame of reference-—and given the fact we have an operating budget of exactly zero dollars-—I think we’re doing pretty well. Especially given the fact this little lovefest kind of took off on its own.

Thanks for all the amazing, enthusiastic, heartfelt notes flooding my inbox, by the way. You can’t possibly know how deeply each and every one of them has touched my heart.

Remember, you guys are the real rock stars, not me. All I did was hand you the torch; you’re the ones running like Olympic athletes.

What a brilliant idea! Nice to see such a diverse group of businesses coming together – and better, having the public, our customers, agree!

I have been saying this for the 28 years that I have owned my Family business. And I am totally on board for supporting us little guys, and educating the community that they have to be an active part in keeping small business alive.

Thank you
Micky Mariette
