in Real life

cheering_crowd_vintageYup. Finally did it. Finally got the new blog design up and running, replacing the rather sterile pre-packaged one that’s been acting as a placeholder.

Rest assured, your favorite elements from the original are still here, along with a few new ones. Join me for a quick tour of the place….

Subscriptions

Receive RSS feeds, follow me on Twitter, and subscribe to the RetailSpeaks newsletter to stay abreast of life in retail. Don’t know what the first two are? Click the “What the heck are those?” link in the Subscribe menu on the right to find out.

Tabs

More than just the typical “Contact” and “About” tabs can be found at the top of the page. See ’em up there? Yeah, I heard you. You just gasped “CHOCOLATE!” Has the same effect on me too.

Recent posts plus recent comments

See that sub-category below Recent Posts in the sidebar on the right? It lists readers’ comments to previous missives that have appeared here. There’s a pretty lively conversation underway right now about Swoozie’s for those of you who want to chime in (please do).

There may be a few subtle tweaks over time, but all in all, the design is done, and ready to be played with.

To the extraordinary souls behind the Thesis WordPress theme and the technological wizards who populate their forums, thank you. I promise to learn more about coding, having been (feverishly) dog-paddling in a deeper part of the pool than equipped for. Your patience, wisdom, and hand holding are to be commended.

Special shout out to Chris, Rick, and Kristarella. God did a good thing when He made you guys.

So…whadaya think? Please post a comment below…it matters.

Thesis is a great theme, and you’ve made an accessible, sleek customization from the foundation.

Stands out and looks classy – nice work!

I would love to read how you set up your sidebar and the rotating quote module. Will you explain either here or on the Thesis forum?

Great job on implementing the THESIS theme! I especially like the rotating quote module that you placed in the multimedia box. It’s really eye-catching.
